Spring Time Cleanse

Spring time is a wonderful time to clean house. Not only your home you live in but also the home you live within. Your body. Your gift from God. Life. Sustaining a healthy body sometimes can be difficult even if we know the ins and outs of good health. It is in our genes. It is affected by our environment. It is ruined daily by the stresses physically, emotionally and mentally we deal with. But the "Good News" is that the human body was designed by its Creator to heal itself. If only we catch it in time. Good health should be a maintenance program for us. But in the hectic world we live in sometimes we get lost in the midst & find ourselves just going through the motions of each day looking forward to the weekends & then again Monday is here to do it all over again.
As a gift to myself today I begin "my spring cleanse". Back in the day when nutrition & health were new to me (at 24 years of age) when I learned of cleansing at a health seminar, I did it in the spring and in the fall. I was a stay at home wife then and time was irrelevant to me. I could very easily fit what I needed to do into my life each day. Then at age 32 I developed MS and sought out a nutritionist and took the cleansing steps a bit further. What I discovered in my body then was not only could cleansing leave you feeling lighter, more energy and healthier, it also could place a sick body into a remission or healed state. As time went on & I divorced in my late 40's and working full time (sometimes 3 jobs) the ability to be able to cleanse properly was no longer as easy to obtain as it was when not working. I still would purchase the cleanse kit and use it sparingly, as you really need to be able to run to the bathroom when necessary and that is not always possible at work. I tried to schedule it during a vacation time from work. But that meant staying home and not going on a trip. I managed over the last 14 years to continue to cleanse but not the way I would choose. When you cleanse you also should rest your body. Well with the MS flared up the last several months, I now have time to rest. (when not running to doctor appointments). Two weeks ago my Jack Lalanne Juicer came and I began my regimen of carrot juice. Last week I introduced a wedge of cabbage juiced into each glass of carrot juice I made. Cabbage juice will purify the GI tract and cleanse the body of parasites, fungi & other pathogens. Cabbage juice is pleasant tasting, not at all like I suspected. Today being March 1, with spring just around the corner, I have chosen to begin my cleanse. I have purchased a Nature's Secret Ultimate Cleanse Kit. and will take my journey to a healthier body just one more step closer. How do you know if you need to cleanse? Well if you have episodes of bloating, brain fog, sluggishness or low vitality these are warning signs given to you to make you aware that your body needs a tune up. During a cleanse your body will begin to unload toxic waste from your liver and kidneys which cause some of these symptoms. Your blood will be purified. You will remove damaged cells and tissue waste. Loss of excess water. What will you end up with? Smoother & easier digestion. Increased elimination of bowel movements (2-3) a day. Slight weight loss. And most of all a sense of well being and vitality.
So today I begin. You should consider this also. Think on it.

Jack Lalanne....My Fitness Hero

"The only way you can hurt the body is not use it," LaLanne said. "Inactivity is the killer and, remember, it's never too late."

Today I lost my health food, exercise icon. My hero in fitness. Each time I would watch the infomercial for Jack Lalanne Juicer I would marvel at how wonderful he and his wife Elaine looked for their age. It had always been my dream to live to be 100 or more. Since having so much sickness hit me these last few years sometimes I wondered if I could handle being around till then if i were not well. But Jack had once again inspired me to push for the goal of health as I once did before and conquered.
My sympathy goes out to his wife and children and may this sad time be a time of celebration for the wonderful life he lived and the hope & inspiration he gave many in this vast world.
Thank you Mr. Lalanne.....you were one in a million!
Jack also was inspired by Paul Bragg...my other health food inspiration!

It's Been a While......

Sorry it has been a while since blogging. I have been resting quite a bit still when home. I still have not received the reports on the blood work they have done for the b12 deficiency so if and when I do leave the house when I return it is sleepy time for me. I know I do need to move it or I will loose it, so I am very thankful to the awesome group of friends I have who get me out and about these past few months. I have a wonderful extension of girlfriends, married and single. They all step up to the plate and help. I do hope they do not tire of that. But their getting me out does help get the blood flowing, it is just that when you have MS or a similar disease people can not see that you do not feel well because you look just fine. Perhaps you look a bit tired but then again the whole world is tired these days. I just want to say thanks to my friends for seeing beyond the end of your noses as they say, and caring. More should be lucky to have friends as I do. I also have a wonderful son, who takes great care of his mom. He knows exactly what I need when I need it. From phone calls to treats out or cleaning my home.
Well as soon as they put me on a treatment plan medically for the b12 deficiency so my body starts absorbing the wonderfully healthy foods I consume, I will then start a cleanse program because....health begins in the colon. But I am a bit too weak physically at this time to under go any colonic or enema routine or even herbal cleanses, it would only make me too weak and in order to do so when this weak I feel you do need to do it under supervision. So once my b12 shots begin, it may be just a one time thing, or it may be a daily thing for the rest of my life, whatever, when my resistance picks up a bit I will then begin my trip down 2beHealthyAgain lane.
Wishing all of you a wonderful 2011....may you grow to be healthy, wealthy & wise.

The 4 Basic Nutrients

Water, carbs, protein & fats are the basic building blocks to a healthy being or "good" diet. BALANCE. Life must be balanced. A diet of only or mostly 1 of the above will steer you wrong if followed long term. If you eat a well balanced diet of these 4 important factors your body should function to its best level possible.
The human body is 2/3 water. Every function in your body depends on this ingredient. Water will help transport the nutrients and waste to and from your body in the cells. Digestion, absorbing your foods, circulation, and excreting all depend on water to aid in these. Water also helps keep your body temperature regulated. Perhaps I did not suffer extremely with many hot flashes because since my 20's I have been drinking water regularly as recommended. I learned at a health expo when I was 29 that the water we are made of is most like distilled water so that is when I changed my diet to drink only distilled. When unavailable to me I will then drink spring water. Sometimes we need the minerals in our water supplies offered in our communities but do we really know what the % contents are? And added fluoride....although recommended by the FDA.....Dr Max Gerson...disagrees. google him and watch his videos and read about his findings. He is a hero of mine. In 1928 he had found a cure for CANCER...the "C" word as I call it. Learn what Max and Charlotte his daughter can teach you about the body and nutrition. Carbs.....supply our bodies the energy we need to function. Carbs are found in most all plant foods....fruits, veggies, peas and beans , milk and milk products. Simple and complex are the 2 groups of carbs. Fruits are the highest form of simple carbohydrates. Complex carbs contain fiber and starch. These may be veggies, whole grains, peas and beans. When choosing carbs always pick unrefined foods. Processed foods are a no-no to the body. Processed foods are usually if not always high in fats. This makes them LOADED with calories. Fiber is a much needed form of carbs. Often called roughage you need this for digestion. I learned at a seminar once that your health begins in the colon. Each point in the colon supports a certain function or body part. If indeed your colon is "clogged" (we know what I am saying here) constipated....that part of your body is being set up for disease to settle in and rob you of a healthy function body and even eventually be a cause of death. So as I see it: Not only does "Health" begin in the colon but "Death" can begin there also. Protein is important for growth and development in the body. It gives energy and aids in the manufacturing of hormones, tissues, enzymes, and certain antibodies we need to function. When you consume protein it will develop the amino acids we need to allow our muscles to function properly. Brown rice combined with beans, nuts, seeds or wheat can become a complete protein which your body needs. Yogurt is also a complete protein. The healthy bacteria in yogurt will aid in digestion and keep your colon healthy. Sweetened yogurts are not the best because of the sugar content. For years when my son was young I made my own yogurt and added honey or fresh fruit to make it taste wonderful. A yogurt maker is inexpensive, easy to use and you can get your health food store to order you one if they do not stock it. Finally Fats..... The body does in fact need fats. Children need fat for proper brain development. Fat throughout life provides energy and help with body growth. Excessive fat consumption will result in obesity...no doubt about it....We just need to consume the proper type of fats in order for it to be healthy for us. Having MS I have learned years ago that a low fat diet, unsaturated fats are best to have your body function properly.
This is just the beginning.....tomorrow I will touch on the importance of vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements for our bodies.
Remember....drink water...do not wait till you are thirsty....if you wait till then your body has already entered a state of dehydration. If we keep our bodies hydrated we not only maintain energy, but also keep mental clarity, and help keep the skin firm and supple and perhaps keep the wrinkles at bay or away!
BeWell4Ever is my wish for you!

Nutrition got my MS into remission...

Back in 1975 I began changing the way I ate & lived my life. I started exercising & taking supplements. I have always wanted to own a Health Food Store...Well, to make a long story short, it took me this long to get this far. Over the last 37 years I have grown to know more about nutrition & health, especially in my own personal life when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I went to a nutritionist 26 years ago to get my health back. It worked!!! Through changing my eating habits, nutrition, juicing & cleansing programs & most of ALL God...I was able to bring the MS into remission for over 20 years. I have recently come out of remission. For what reasons we do not know. That is what is so puzzling about the disease. I want to share my knowledge with others & help people live a full abundant life that is intended for us. I will do my best to always share my knowledge with what has worked with me. I have experience in working in a Health Food Store, Certification in Homeopathic Remedies & my best knowledge comes from my life. I know what has worked for me & my family, I can only share this with you and hope that you will gain a respect for the natural approach to illness & health and let it become a way you will want to live your life.
I have recently had surgery. The second surgery in 1 years time. This time around it has caused my MS to flare up severely. So my goal is once again to gain back my energies and strength. To do so the first time around years ago it took several years for my body to accept the foods and supplements. But along with prayer and faith my body did eventually go into remission. I invite you to follow my blog as I rekindle the ways I will be changing my supplements and seeking healing for my body. At the present time my medication from my neuroligist has been changed to a more potent med. I do not agree with taking medications but at times our bodies do need them to balance us out. We just need to discern which is for us and just what we want to put our bodies through. So right now I am on Provigil till I can get my body to the rested point it needs to respond to the natural ways I choose. During this excerbation time I have learned over the years that if your body is saying rest...you need to listen to it and surrender.
