WATER....if only I had thought of putting it in bottles!

Back in 1984 when I was going to a nutritionist for my MS I began carrying around my distilled water in canning jars. I had been drinking distilled water since 1979. To be sure of my drinking throughout the day to stay hydrated the only choice in jars I had at that time were canning jars. Only if I had thought to promote bottling it in plastics I would be a very wealthy woman right about now!
I had chose to change to the distilled water because at a health expo in Pittsburgh I heard a speaker say that the body's water content was the most similar to distilled. The human body is composed of about 70% water. My feelings for drinking the water at the time was to try to keep my skin soft and supple and hopefully free of wrinkles as I aged. I learned at the expo that water is important for nearly every process of our body. From digestion to circulation, excretion, and absorbing. It helps us maintain a normal body temperature. We are continually losing water through sweating and elimination so we need to constantly be replacing it. So many do not do so. The body can survive much longer without food than it can without water.
Is tap water safe? Tap water is generally obtained from surface waters. That is water collected in reservoirs or water which has been filtered through the ground to the water table and extracted by means of a well. Most assume that their tap water is safe.
Whatever the source of your water it is good to know warning signs of bad water. Watch out for cloudiness. Chlorination causes some cloudiness that will usually clear if the water is left to stand. Bacterial or sedimentary cloudiness will remain. Foaming means some sort of bacterial contamination. You can destroy the bacteria by boiling the water for 5 minutes and letting stand for several hours. This way the sediment will settle. Strange smells or taste could mean chemical contamination.
Can we trust the water we drink? Be it from a well, city supplier, bottled, tap, mineral, springs, or steam-distilled. In this day and age what can we trust exactly? I do not have the answers. With all the pollution and unsafe particles in the world is any thing really safe for you any more? I don't have the answer for you, but I do know that you need to drink water to keep your body functioning. So the choice is up to you. You have many choices these days to choose from. If only it could be simple like God had planned it for us. Pure & Simple.......We as humans are killing ourselves even down to the water we drink....nothing is pure and good for us anymore. Sad isn't it?

The 4 Basic Nutrients

Water, carbs, protein & fats are the basic building blocks to a healthy being or "good" diet. BALANCE. Life must be balanced. A diet of only or mostly 1 of the above will steer you wrong if followed long term. If you eat a well balanced diet of these 4 important factors your body should function to its best level possible.
The human body is 2/3 water. Every function in your body depends on this ingredient. Water will help transport the nutrients and waste to and from your body in the cells. Digestion, absorbing your foods, circulation, and excreting all depend on water to aid in these. Water also helps keep your body temperature regulated. Perhaps I did not suffer extremely with many hot flashes because since my 20's I have been drinking water regularly as recommended. I learned at a health expo when I was 29 that the water we are made of is most like distilled water so that is when I changed my diet to drink only distilled. When unavailable to me I will then drink spring water. Sometimes we need the minerals in our water supplies offered in our communities but do we really know what the % contents are? And added fluoride....although recommended by the FDA.....Dr Max Gerson...disagrees. google him and watch his videos and read about his findings. He is a hero of mine. In 1928 he had found a cure for CANCER...the "C" word as I call it. Learn what Max and Charlotte his daughter can teach you about the body and nutrition. Carbs.....supply our bodies the energy we need to function. Carbs are found in most all plant foods....fruits, veggies, peas and beans , milk and milk products. Simple and complex are the 2 groups of carbs. Fruits are the highest form of simple carbohydrates. Complex carbs contain fiber and starch. These may be veggies, whole grains, peas and beans. When choosing carbs always pick unrefined foods. Processed foods are a no-no to the body. Processed foods are usually if not always high in fats. This makes them LOADED with calories. Fiber is a much needed form of carbs. Often called roughage you need this for digestion. I learned at a seminar once that your health begins in the colon. Each point in the colon supports a certain function or body part. If indeed your colon is "clogged" (we know what I am saying here) constipated....that part of your body is being set up for disease to settle in and rob you of a healthy function body and even eventually be a cause of death. So as I see it: Not only does "Health" begin in the colon but "Death" can begin there also. Protein is important for growth and development in the body. It gives energy and aids in the manufacturing of hormones, tissues, enzymes, and certain antibodies we need to function. When you consume protein it will develop the amino acids we need to allow our muscles to function properly. Brown rice combined with beans, nuts, seeds or wheat can become a complete protein which your body needs. Yogurt is also a complete protein. The healthy bacteria in yogurt will aid in digestion and keep your colon healthy. Sweetened yogurts are not the best because of the sugar content. For years when my son was young I made my own yogurt and added honey or fresh fruit to make it taste wonderful. A yogurt maker is inexpensive, easy to use and you can get your health food store to order you one if they do not stock it. Finally Fats..... The body does in fact need fats. Children need fat for proper brain development. Fat throughout life provides energy and help with body growth. Excessive fat consumption will result in obesity...no doubt about it....We just need to consume the proper type of fats in order for it to be healthy for us. Having MS I have learned years ago that a low fat diet, unsaturated fats are best to have your body function properly.
This is just the beginning.....tomorrow I will touch on the importance of vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements for our bodies.
Remember....drink water...do not wait till you are thirsty....if you wait till then your body has already entered a state of dehydration. If we keep our bodies hydrated we not only maintain energy, but also keep mental clarity, and help keep the skin firm and supple and perhaps keep the wrinkles at bay or away!
BeWell4Ever is my wish for you!
